Candle Wick can be a singular or blend of materials. A wick’s primary function is to provide capillary action for example in a candle or oil lamp, it draws liquefied fuel to the flame or in a fragrance device it draws liquid for evaporation to fragrance the air. Wicks are usually made of braided, plaited, knitted, or twisted fibers of a variety of materials such as cotton, paper, or other combustible fiber. Candle wicks can also include a fine wire such as copper, zinc, or tin which functions to make the wick more rigid and facilitate heat conductance to the candle fuel. Candle wicks may also be pretreated with proprietary mixtures to promote capillary action, prevent clogging, or to enhance combustion. Other wick materials may be wood, hollow or porous plant material. Wicks are also used in other consumer products including air care devices such as air fresheners which serve as a delivery vehicle for a steady flow of liquid for evaporation.
