C10-16 Pareth is the primarily linear ethoxylated alcohol that generally conforms to the formula: RO(CH2CH2O)nH where: n = number of moles of ethylene oxide (EO) has an average value of 1-40, R = hydrocarbon chain of a linear alcohol with 10 to 16 carbons in the alkyl chain. Usage of this general description is for label disclosure only. When this term is used on label, more specific chemical disclosure (carbon chain ranges, moles of ethoxylation, etc.) should be disclosed on the company's website. As per INCI 2025 revision of the nomenclature for the hydrocarbon ingredients, all the “Pareth” stem terms will be replaced by “Alketh”. The current timeframe for this approach is anticipated through 2025. In transition to new terminology, the updated HCPA name of C10-16 Alketh has the preference over the current C10-16 Pareth.
